Lwa - Work in progress with Joane Matthey
For many, the Voodoo Lwas are myths and creations of the Haitian imagination. But for Haitians, the Lwas are spirits with which one communicates. They guide men but they aren't gods, they are the invisible intermediaries between man and God.
The "Lwa" project is deeply rooted in everyday life. My goal is to share a pragmatic image of Voodoo, which is often misunderstood and threatened by several detractors. This photographic approach also aims to illustrate the fine line between Haitian Voodoo spirituality and Haitian contemporary reality.
